If you’re looking for orthodontic treatment for more than just a pretty smile and straighter teeth, we can help. If you or a loved one is dealing with TMJ/TMD (Temporomandibular Joint Disease) or another condition which causes discomfort of the jaw, we can not only help control the pain, but we can prevent bone loss and irregular wear of tooth enamel. If you think that there’s no options for these problems, you’re wrong, and waiting longer can cause even more damage to your mouth and jaw. This makes treatment more complex. Early diagnosis and preventive care can help you get back to feeling better, faster.

Here are some causes of TMD:

-          Grinding or clenching your teeth.

-          Movement of the soft cushion or disc between the ball and socket of the joint.

-          Arthritis in the joint.

-          Stress, as it may cause you to tighten facial and jaw muscles or to clench the teeth.

Phase II Treatment, simply, is treatment between the ages of 11 and 15, after all permanent teeth have erupted. We do recommend that your child receives his or her first orthodontic exam around the age of seven, so that plans can be made and an assessment of their early needs are made. When this phase of treatment is done, it is after the adult teeth have erupted. This is because children’s bodies – including their mouth and gums – are growing rapidly at this age. A combination of Phase I and Phase II orthodontic care generally have longer lasting results. Beginning early treatment has many advantages. One of those is that, since there is an overall negative association sometimes related to braces in the later teenage years, kids can get the anxiety they might have about braces out of the way. Another advantage is being able to detect over or under bites or gaps between teeth at an early age, and being able to correct them before they make too strong an impact on oral health. There is never a wrong time to get...

It may sound like orthodontists beat this like a dead horse, but early treatment is the best treatment, even though treatment can be had at any age. Early orthodontic treatment varies between patients. It may include removable or fixed appliances that can provide more room for crowded, erupting teeth, preserve space for unerupted teeth, create facial symmetry through manipulating jaw growth, reduce the possibility of tooth extraction, and reduce overall treatment time in braces. Early treatment is crucial because it will correct all these problems before the adult teeth come in. Early treatment is the best way to make sure that things don’t get worse over time. Find out now if your child is a candidate for early interceptive treatment by contacting us today. If it turns out that orthodontic treatment is needed, we have many ways to help finance you. We take a large number of insurance companies, and we have many finance options. Take a look at our website to learn more about the options available for you. If...

If you needed to get braces even 20 years ago, you wouldn’t have many options. Today, there’s all kinds of options. For those who want a discreet look, there’s clear and invisible types. For those who want to really express their creativity, there’s fun styles with cool brackets. The important thing is just choosing the one that is best for you. There are a few types of braces that you can choose from, including metal braces, ceramic braces, Invisalign, Invisalign Teen, and Empower. Metal braces are the most popular type of braces that patients choose. They are the “tried and true” of orthodontic care. They are made of high-grade stainless steel and are smaller and more comfortable than they used to be. Ceramic braces are made of clear material. They are most popular with our adult patients because of their cosmetic appeal. However, they are more fragile because of their ceramic brackets. The elastic ties can discolor between orthodontic visits. They are incredibly effective, though. There are even Invisalign...
